Updated Salary Thresholds for Skilled Worker and Health & Care Routes
From 9 April 2025, the baseline salary threshold for many Skilled Worker and Health & Care visa routes has increased. Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) issued after this date must normally reflect a minimum annual salary of £25,000, or the specific going rate for the role if it is higher. Some jobs listed on the Immigration Salary List have going rates exceeding £25,000, and in such cases, the higher rate applies.
This change impacts both new hires and extensions for existing visa holders. Employers must ensure that any new CoS issued meets the updated salary requirements, and applicants should confirm that their offered salary complies with the revised thresholds. These adjustments are intended to maintain fairness in compensation while aligning visa eligibility with market standards.
NHS Employers and other health organizations are advised to review their recruitment budgets and planning to accommodate these changes, ensuring compliance with the new rules and avoiding delays or issues in visa sponsorship.
